I get lots of questions about housing sizes- here's some basic info on that: Almost all Quick housings are 3.0\", unless you buy a specific pro-fab 3.5\", it's 95% of the time 3.0\". Mustang 8.8's are 2.875\", in this case use the 3.0\" bracket, explorer 8.8\" are 3.25\", some old factory big weld 9\" Fords are 3.25, but they aren't totally round either, ands last but not least, fabricated race car housings like mine are 3.5\". When in doubt, I still recommend measuring the housing.
